Our Emperor Kangxi Dao sword is masterfully crafted and detailed to both showcase and exemplify Chinese culture. Emperor Kangxi, the longest-reigning emperor in China and perhaps the most famous, reigned for 61 years between 1654 to 1722. The time in which he reigned was characterized by peace, wealth, and stability. Therefore, art and intellect also flourished during the period.
Our 40” Emperor Kangxi Dao sword is hand forged with 1060 spring steel, polished, and sharpened. A Dao is a single-edged Chinese sword primarily used for slashing and chopping. In China, the dao is considered one of the four traditional weapons.
The sword’s 21 ½” single-edged steel blade is sharp, has a 14 ½” blood groove, and is half-tang.
The extra long 14” antiqued bronze handle has a dragon that serpentines its way to the pommel where you will find a 1 ½” Imperial guardian lion.
The black leather qiao (scabbard) also has highly detailed antiqued bronze fittings including dragons on the throat and end cap and Imperial Lions on the suspension hinges.
It comes with a decorative wooden box that is faux silk lined and covered outside with a faux silk dragon print.
