A Damascus blade is one of the most easily recognizable blades. The signature trait of the steel is the watermark. Damascus steel was first created in the Middle East between 900 and 1750. The steel was the solution to a sword that was both extremely hard and soft. This is a combination of one of the best process of sword making and one of the best styles of sword.

The blade has been authentically created and all of the fittings are genuine material created in the old style. Sword can be completely disassembled for cleaning/maintenance.

Note: Sword stand sold separately.

The Katana includes a Silk Sword Bag.

Attributes of the Weapon:

Blade: The blade of the sword has been constructed in the lost Damascus Steel folding technique. By hand the sword smith painstakingly stacks and forges individual layers of steel. This technique can be easily seen by the unique patterning of the steel on the blade. Traditionally this wood like grain pattern is known as the water mark.

The blade has been constructed from a hard high carbon steel on the Ha (edge of the blade) and a softer medium carbon steel in the core of the blade. This technique is known as the Kobuse Lamination.

The blade features a Bo-Hi (blood groove) for better balance and a audible feedback when the sword is swung. The sword comes razor sharp and full tang.

Saya (Scabbard): The saya has a black lacquer high gloss finish. The sage-o is black cotton, wrapped over a wooden kurigata.

Tsuba (Guard): The Habaki is a one piece brass construction over a copper Seppa. The Tsuba is constructed from oxidized copper in a beautiful cut out design.

Tsuka (Handle): The Fuchi is oxidized copper with an antiqued finish. The tsuka is hardwood wrapped with a ray skin Same and black cotton Ito. Brass menuki are found on each side of the tsuka. The tang is secured by a single bamboo Mekugi. The Kashira has also been oxidized and antiqued.
